10/18 – 3:10 p.m. New York time

I analyzed two symbols as potential new positions but rejected both: AXP and VZ. I exited IBM and JNJ, each for a loss.

10/18 – 2:35 p.m. New York time

I have decline to trade VZ because of low implied volatility in relation to the most recent range.

10/18 – 2:25 p.m. New York time

After analysis, I have declined to trade AXP on grounds of profit-zone coverage and bid/ask spread.

10/18 – 1 p.m. New York time

I have updated the IBM and JNJ analyses with results.

10/18 – 10 a.m. New York time

I have exited IBM and JNJ, each for a loss, after wide post-earnings moves.

As for new positions, the bid/ask spread has widened significantly on AXP to an unacceptable level. VZ has narrowed to within my standards. I shall make a final decision about how to proceed late in the day.

10/17 – 8:40 p.m. New York time

I have one prospective earnings play for analysis on Wednesday: AXP. Its bid/ask spread is borderline acceptable, but I shall do the analysis and see how it looks.

VZ was on the list but it has a bid/ask spread well in excess of my standard, which is 10% or less. The trial VZ position I set up has  spread of 13%. I shall check it again on Wednesday but plan no analysis at this point.
