12/18 – 2;55 p.m. New York time

No outcomes today. I entered no new positions, nor did I exit positions.

12/18 – 9:40 p.m. New York time

HEI’s metrics continue to show the same disqualifying characteristics this morning. The symbol is under consideration as a earnings play using shares, which requires bullish indicators.

Although Zacks gives HEI a bullish rank, the earnings surprise predictor score is slightly negative I require an ESP of positive 0.5 or greater for share trades. Although the average directional index (ADX) has risen slightly, it remains below 25, my minimum level that indicates an acceptable trend.

The Zacks ESP score won’t change during the day, so I shall give HEI no further consideration, leaving nothing on the agenda.

12/17 – 10 a.m. New York time

I have no prospective trades for action on Monday. The one possibility, an earnings play using shares of HEI, has contradictions in its metrics: A slightly negative earnings surprise predictor (ESP) and the lack of an upward trend as measured by the average directional index (ADX), compared to a bullish Zacks rank.

If the ESP turns positive and the ADX rises above 25 (it presently stands at 15), then I shall place HEI on the agenda. Otherwise, I foresee no trades.

For the entire week, I shall be looking for earnings plays using options among eight symbols:

sym date median action
BB 12/20 am 12/19
FDX 12/19 pm 12/19
MU 12/19 pm 12/19

BBBY 12/20 pm 12/20
